Control power and aim

Hold Space or ○ / B and release to shoot. Up and down choose the corners; on a stick, the amount of tilt lets you fine-tune the direction. Releasing the direction keeps your chosen target.

The mark near the end of the bar shows where accuracy starts giving way to power. Charging too much can lift the ball over the goal. Shooting with your back to goal, at full sprint or with the ball in a poor position also hurts your finish. Try to get balanced before striking.

Curve and chips

Use B or R3 to cycle between a straight shot and curves. The dotted path shows the predicted curve. To attempt a chip, hold Shoot and tap Cross; on the keyboard, that means holding Space and tapping C.

A chip is an option against a goalkeeper who is off his line or on the ground. A goalkeeper on his line can move backwards and reach for the ball in the air, so this move still needs the right timing.

Headers and volleys

When a cross comes in, press Shoot to prepare an aerial finish. The game uses the ball's height to choose the type of contact. With no movement direction held, the player heads for the meeting point; during preparation, the stick switches to aiming.

Charge the power and watch the timing indicator. Releasing too early produces a weak flick. If the ball is too far away, there is no contact: the attacker has to reach it. Pass can head the ball down to a teammate, while Cross can flick it on through the air.

Follow up the rebound

The goalkeeper may catch, parry or get only a partial touch on the ball. Follow the move after a powerful shot, especially one into the corners. Using Shoot near a loose ball lets you attempt a first-time finish, using the pace of the rebound.

In Training, repeat the same situation with small changes to direction and power. This helps you understand the aiming reticle more than using maximum power for every shot.

Try it in the game.
