Free training
Explore the pitch and experiment with movement. If you are learning the controls, start by walking, sprinting and changing direction. Then make short passes and watch how you take control of the receiver.
A simple exercise is to alternate gentle movement and sprinting before passing the ball. Compare what happens when you pass while facing the target with a pass played across your body.
Shooting
Choose Shooting to practise aiming and using the power bar. First try the same corner with different amounts of charge. Then keep the power similar and vary your aim. Check whether your body is aligned and the ball is well positioned.
Once you have mastered the basic shot, alternate between straight and curved shots. Test a chip when the goalkeeper is off his line, watching the predicted arc and landing point.
Penalties
From the penalty spot, practise choosing a corner and releasing the button. More power does not automatically make a better penalty. Aim to repeat the action with control and compare the trajectories.
If you are using a stick, try intermediate amounts of tilt. They let you fine-tune the direction instead of choosing only the up and down extremes.
Free kicks
Use free-kick training to understand distance, power and curve. The dotted path helps you judge the bend. Adjust one variable, take the kick and watch the result before changing another.
Take what you learn into a match: a kick from a different angle or with another player may behave differently. Shooting attributes play a part in the result.
